How does the guest band pricing work?
Head count places you in one of three bands. Children aged 3 and over pay the full rate, so they count.

Three details matter in practice:
- Your date, not the shared calendar. Shared trips run twice a week; in October 2026, weekend departures fall on 02-04, 09-11, 16-18, 23-25 and 30 Oct-01 Nov. A private charter asks for its own start day.
- A route shaped around weather and time. KL’s 3D2N plan covers Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Manta Point, Taka Makassar and Sebayur. Other durations are planned with the desk. KL notes that late arrivals shorten the itinerary and that the duration cannot be extended.
- Trip type on the form. KL’s enquiry form asks you to mark Leisure, Diving or Combine, and lists Komodo Island and Raja Ampat as destinations. The packages on this page cover Komodo; ask the desk about anything beyond them.
Does Malca suit your group size?
KL positions Malca for groups of 13 to 21. The VIP-class phinisi measures 30 m by 5.1 m in iron wood and teak, cruises at 15-16 knots and carries 6,000 litres of fresh water. Shared spaces include a jacuzzi, sunroof, relax area and an indoor lounge with panoramic windows.
Every cabin has a private bathroom and air conditioning:
- Master Ocean View: 4 persons, double bed, private balcony
- Deluxe Ocean View: 2 persons, double bed
- Superior Ocean View: 2 persons, double bed
- Quad Room Ocean View: 4 persons, double bunk
- Double Room 1 and 2: 2 persons each, double bed
- Triple Room: 3 persons, single bunk
Check one point early: the cabin listing adds up to 19 berths, while KL states a capacity of 21 guests. Groups of 20 or 21 should ask how the final places are allocated before paying.
What is included, and what is not?
Included in the package:
- Stay on board, meals, mineral water, coffee and tea
- Guide, snorkel gear and life vests
- Raw drone, GoPro and mirrorless footage
- Pick-up and drop-off between 08:00 and 09:00 from a hotel or the airport on the Labuan Bajo mainland near the harbour (not other islands or Manjaga)
Paid separately:
- Komodo National Park fees, set by government regulation at the time of the trip
- Optional park drone permit, requested 7 days before departure
- Crew gratuities, flights, alcoholic and soft drinks, snacks and personal expenses
How does booking work?
- Choose duration and head count. Find your band in the tables above.

- Receive a reply. KL says the desk responds within 24 hours.
- Pay the deposit. A 50% deposit secures the charter.
- Settle the balance. Pay no later than 30 days before departure. Inside 30 days, full payment is due on booking.
- Board in Labuan Bajo. Pick-up runs 08:00-09:00 on day one.
Booking a year ahead? KL splits the payment into three stages:

Before paying, note KL’s terms: deposits are non-refundable, and a cancellation forfeits payment, though a replacement person may be nominated. Force majeure can change or cancel a trip without refund. The sender covers bank charges, and guests are liable for lost or damaged gear. For private events, KL records trips and may use footage promotionally.

Can a family of four book Malca Voyages as a private charter?
Yes. The 1-12 guest band applies whether you are four or twelve, and Komodo Luxury quotes the package on request for the vessel, your dates, duration, guest count and inclusions. For four people on 3D2N, ask the reservations desk to set that quote against the shared cabin fares for the same departure.
Can a private charter depart outside the Friday and Monday shared slots?
That is the main reason to go private. Shared trips leave Friday-Sunday and Monday-Wednesday, while a private charter requests its own start date. Availability depends on the boat’s calendar, which already carries the published shared departures. Send two or three candidate dates so the desk can confirm one inside its stated 24-hour reply window.
What happens if our flight to Labuan Bajo lands late on day one?
Malca pick-ups run 08:00-09:00, and KL notes that late arrivals shorten the itinerary; the duration cannot be extended to make up lost time. Direct flights reach Labuan Bajo (LBJ) from Bali, Jakarta and Surabaya, so flying in the day before removes that risk. Share your flight times with the desk when you book.
Do children count toward the guest band?
Yes. Under KL’s terms, children aged 3 and over pay the full rate, so they count as guests when your band is set. Eleven adults travelling with two children aged 5 therefore price as 13 guests, which moves a 3D2N charter into the 13-18 guest band, so ask the desk for the quote that applies.
Are Komodo National Park fees included in the private charter price?
No. Park fees sit outside the package and are charged under the government regulation in force at the time of your trip. A park drone permit is optional and must be requested 7 days before departure. Crew gratuities, flights, alcoholic and soft drinks, and personal snacks are also extra.
