What Is Included in the Malca Voyages Package? Inclusions and Extras Checklist

The Malca Voyages package covers your stay on board, meals, mineral water, coffee and tea, a guide, snorkel gear, life vests, raw drone/GoPro/mirrorless footage and pick-up from Labuan Bajo mainland hotels or the airport. Komodo National Park fees, drone permits, crew tips, flights, alcoholic and soft drinks and personal extras are paid separately, as of September 2026.

Most Komodo budgets go wrong in the gap between “the boat price” and “what the trip costs you”. Everything below comes from Komodo Luxury’s official Malca Voyages page, read on 15 September 2026, and the operator says it checked those rates on 11 September 2026. Treat every line as subject to change.

What does the Malca Voyages package price actually cover?

Malca Voyages is a 30-metre VIP-class phinisi with 7 cabins and room for 21 guests. Komodo Luxury owns and operates it out of Labuan Bajo. The published inclusion list is short and practical. Before you compare it with the numbers on the Malca Voyages price card, it helps to see exactly what those numbers buy.

Included item What it means in practice
Stay on board Your cabin for every night of the package; all Malca cabins have a private bathroom and air conditioning
Meals All meals served on board during the trip
Mineral water, coffee, tea Non-alcoholic basics throughout the trip
Guide The guide who leads island treks and sets the day plan; guests follow the guide’s instructions
Snorkel gear Equipment for stops such as Manjarite, Manta Point and Sebayur
Life vest Provided for every guest
Pick-up and drop-off From your hotel or the airport within Labuan Bajo mainland near the harbour, arranged 08:00-09:00 for Malca
Trip footage Raw drone, GoPro and mirrorless camera footage

Two words deserve attention. “Raw” means unedited footage, so plan to cut any finished film yourself. “Mainland” means the transfer covers Labuan Bajo near the harbour and the airport, not every place you might be sleeping.

What do you pay on top of the Malca Voyages rate?

None of the exclusions carry a fixed price on the Malca page, and several depend on rules outside the operator’s control.

Not included Why it varies
Komodo National Park fees Charged according to government regulation at the time of your trip
Park drone permit (optional) Must be requested at least 7 days before departure
Crew gratuities Not built into the rate
Flights Getting to and from Labuan Bajo (LBJ) is on you
Personal expenses Anything personal, such as hotel nights before or after the cruise
Alcoholic and soft drinks Only mineral water, coffee and tea are included
Personal snacks Anything beyond the meals served
Pick-up from other islands or Manjaga The included transfer stops at the Labuan Bajo mainland

Flights are the easiest line to price early. According to Komodo Luxury, Labuan Bajo has direct services from Bali (Garuda, AirAsia, Batik), Jakarta (Garuda, AirAsia, Citilink, Batik) and Surabaya (Batik, Super Air Jet). Park fees are the hardest to pin down, so raise them with the desk as a separate question.

How do the inclusions show up on a 3D2N Malca trip?

The published 3D2N itinerary shows, hour by hour, what your money covers:

  • Day 1: pick-up, Kelor Island trek with the guide, lunch on board, snorkelling at Manjarite with the supplied gear, then Kalong Island at sunset to watch the bats before dinner.
  • Day 2: a 06:00 Padar trek, breakfast at 08:15, Pink Beach at 09:00, the Komodo Island dragon trek at 11:30, lunch, Manta Point snorkel at 14:30, Taka Makassar at 16:30, sunset at 17:30 and dinner at 18:00.
  • Day 3: sunrise breakfast at 06:00, Sebayur snorkel at 08:00, then lunch at 09:30 and the return to Labuan Bajo.

Notice where the exclusions appear. The Padar, Pink Beach and Komodo Island stops sit inside the national park, so park charges apply on top. Flying your own drone over those landscapes needs the separate permit too. Komodo Luxury also notes that destinations may change for weather, field conditions or force majeure. The 2D1N and 4D3N day plans are not published, so you set those routes with the desk. Confirm which park areas they include before you estimate fees.

Which budgeting mistakes catch Malca guests out?

  1. Forgetting park charges entirely. Government park fees sit outside the boat rate and follow the regulation in force on your travel dates. A figure you read online months ago may no longer apply.
  2. Ignoring bank charges. Komodo Luxury’s terms say the sender pays bank charges. International wires can lose money to intermediary banks, so ask how much has to arrive.
  3. Pricing children as discounted guests. Children aged 3 and above pay the full rate. On a private charter, confirm how they count toward the guest tier.
  4. Missing the guest tier on private charters. Private rates step up above 12 guests, and again for each guest above 18. A 3D2N charter is USD 6,000 for 1-12 guests and USD 6,700 for 13-18, with USD 300 for each additional guest beyond that.
  5. Assuming the transfer covers your villa. Staying on another island or in Manjaga? Arrange and budget that leg separately.
  6. Leaving the drone permit too late. Komodo Luxury asks for the request at least 7 days before departure.
  7. Overlooking payment timing. A 50% deposit secures the booking, and the balance is due no later than 30 days before departure. The deposit is non-refundable, but you may nominate a replacement guest.

Shared-trip travellers pay per person for 3D2N: USD 300 in the Triple Room up to USD 580 in the Master Ocean View cabin, as of September 2026. Add park charges, drinks, tips and flights for a realistic total.

What should you ask the desk before paying?

Send the reservations team a short message and ask for answers in writing:

  • Your travel dates, cabin or charter type, and the exact guest count including children aged 3+
  • An itemised breakdown of government park charges that apply to your specific route and dates
  • Whether your pick-up point falls inside the included Labuan Bajo mainland zone
  • The drone permit process and deadline if you plan to fly
  • Drinks options on board and how they are charged
  • Bank details and the exact amount that must arrive after transfer fees

Komodo Luxury handles these questions itself on WhatsApp +62 811 3823 875 or at sales@komodoluxury.com, and says it replies within 24 hours. Guests pay for lost or damaged equipment, so check the gear when you receive it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are drinks included in the Malca Voyages package?

Only mineral water, coffee and tea are included, according to Komodo Luxury’s Malca page as of September 2026. Alcoholic and soft drinks cost extra, and so do personal snacks beyond the meals served on board. Ask the desk before departure how drinks are supplied and charged so you know what to bring or budget for.

Does the Malca Voyages pick-up cover hotels outside Labuan Bajo town?

The included pick-up and drop-off covers hotels or the airport within the Labuan Bajo mainland near the harbour. For Malca, pick-up happens between 08:00 and 09:00. Pick-ups from other islands or from Manjaga are not included. If you are staying outside that zone, confirm your address with the desk and plan a separate transfer.

Is the drone and GoPro footage from a Malca trip edited?

No. Komodo Luxury lists the footage as raw drone, GoPro and mirrorless material, so expect unedited files rather than a finished video. The company also records trips and may use the footage in its marketing. Flying your own drone inside the national park needs the optional park drone permit, which is separate and must be requested 7 days ahead.
